Bobby Dean MP by St Helier Hospital

Extending St Helier Hospital's A&E

St Helier's A&E is at breaking point.

Thousands of local people had to wait longer than 12 hours in the A&E (also know as Emergency Department) last year, with many treated in corridors – that is simply not good enough.

After the Government pushed the billion-pound project for a new hospital building back to the 2030s, Bobby and the Liberal Democrats made the case that something had to be done now. Over the past few years, Bobby has worked closely with the Hospital, raised St Helier's future directly with ministers and secured a debate in Parliament to make the case for investment. More than 2,500 people signed his petition and many local people attended the “extend the A&E” rally. Finally, in 2026, the Government announced £57 million for the extension of the  A&E department. “This announcement is the result of a collective effort,” says Bobby.
